The Walking Gold

Known as "the walking gold" or "the gold of the Andes", vicuña fiber is the finest of all natural fibers. At the time of the Incas, these fibers were reserved for royalty.

The vicuña is a small camel that inhabits the Andean mountains at a height of between 10500 and 16000 feet above sea level. Each vicuña produces 1.1 pounds of wool per year, which transforms it into a precious commodity due to the small number of vicuñas in the world.

Due to its fine fibers, the Vicuña is extremely light and soft, but at the same time warm and insulating.

The fiber of ANCESTRAL garments was obtained by complying with the restrictions of conservation and care of animals in the shearing process, which is supervised by the Secretary of Environment of the Province of Catamarca. In addition, international rules are met throughout the process for adherence to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, better known as CITES, which protects vulnerable or endangered species by controlling that the use, in this case of the vicuña, is sustainable.

Each ANCESTRAL garment is unique, its confection was entirely handmade using ancestral techniques.

Each garment has a fiber traceability and authentication certificate with a unique identification number granted by the Government of Catamarca.

When you buy a garment from the ANCESTRAL collection, you are not only buying a unique garment in the world but you are also contributing to the development of communities and the preservation of the ANCESTRAL technique with which your garment was made.
